Phonemic Awareness

Katie had some difficulty speaking clearly as a toddler.  Now that she’s in school, she’s having difficulty with reading. The children in her class are learning letter sounds and putting sounds together into words.  This is so difficult for Katie! I don’t want her to fall behind in school!

Some children have a specific difficulty hearing the sounds that make up words. As a pre-schooler, this may be evident as unclear speech. As a school-aged child, it may be evident when the child has difficulty learning to read.

We have a SPECIAL PROGRAM of PHONEMIC AWARENESS at Cornerstone Speech designed to help pre-school and early elementary school children learn to listen for speech sounds. Individual sessions with an expert speech language pathologist will ensure that your child can produce each separate speech sound, can recognize the phoneme in words and can connect phonemes into words for clear speech and fluent reading.  We have seen marvelous progress for children who receive special therapy with this program.
