Cornerstone Speech is an in-network provider with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Tricare, and Medicare for speech therapy. We are not in-network with NJ Family Cares and Aetna Better Health. Some or all of the expense of speech therapy may be covered by your medical insurance. We do not accept insurance in lieu of payment for occupational therapy services. For families with out-of-network plans, we are happy to provide you with a receipt so that you may be reimbursed directly by your insurance carrier.

Cornerstone Speech & Language is a New Jersey approved Clinic/Agency. We are authorized to provide services directly to school districts and will provide speech therapy and occupational therapy services to schools in Monmouth and Ocean County.

"Theory of Mind"

Theory of Mind: Learning Social Skills from the Bottom Up is a therapy plan for children with high functioning autism/Asperger’s, published by Linguisystems and written by Carol Krakower.

Theory of Mind is developing the ability to take the perspective of others.  Recently published work on mirror neurons tells us that we do not think through this.    Your child will learn to experience what others can see, what others can know, what others can believe.

Other social skills programs teach your child to follow social rules.  This program is different.  At Cornerstone Speech & Language, we believe that your child has to understand Theory of Mind first.  We call it bottom-up social skills.  We use games, childhood stories, costumes and dramatic play.  It’s fun.  It works.  It can make a world of difference for your child.
